Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) is a simple whole-body mindfulness exercise that will relieve anxiety, muscle tension, and stiffness.

It works by relaxing your mind and your body by tensing and then releasing muscle groups throughout your body. You will tense each area for about five seconds and really feel the tension in each muscle group and hold it tightly but without overdoing it. (You shouldn't be straining or feeling any kind of pain.)

We often go through life without realizing how much stress and tension we’re holding in our body! This can lead to stiffness and pain over time. 

But each time you intentionally notice what it feels like to engage your muscles and then let go, you develop a better sense of body awareness. Over time, you can learn to recognize unnecessary tension and let it go before it leads to more aches & pains and stress.
